CHAPTER 3

A SYSTEM BASED ON FEAR AND LACK IS IN A STATE OF DISEASE

The energetic financial flow of the system had stagnated and become stuck. Without flow, the blockage would contaminate and then break its own system.

Reality: the system was based on greed and the fear of lack.

My decades of endless research had revealed that all the while the system continued with such mentality, debt increased, the poor grew poorer and the division of wealth escalated. An unknown few accumulated vast wealth from the demise of others. The ‘people’ ran on financial treadmills in order to survive in a society that had stopped caring. Selfishness was the order of the day. ‘Look out for number one while number two will stab you in the back'. Was it any wonder that everyone was out for themselves; their motivation was to be better than the next person – have more rather than be more. The ‘next person’ followed a genetic/family routine, and according to instilled family beliefs, they unintentionally conformed, unable to reach their true potential. Each set of limiting beliefs kept each and everyone ‘stuck’ in their situation and working to generate money simply to survive. All the while a deepening dissatisfaction filled their souls because as they continued to consume and live in a state of survival they could never reach their authentic state and make a significant contribution to the world. Survival out-ruled significance. People experienced a sense of pointlessness. Who they were as individuals was not valued, instead objects carried more value than their life. People began to live in a state of schizophrenia where who they appeared to be was a long distance from who they truly were.

Of course the research took me to the other end of the scale where the parasites sucked life from the system. They drank the tax-payers blood. Those workers had to work harder, faster and more because there was someone lined up to take their place. Those who worked to pay bill after bill pushed themselves into heart attacks to pay their exorbitant mortgages which were ever on the increase. Self-destruction was customary in the non-caring system. An ethos which perpetuated the need to keep running on that treadmill until it became too fast and threw you off. The system was not fair and the structure did not work. It just needed the people to pay attention rather than avoid it. The power of ten people united was greater than one hundred individuals working alone.

All the while, the political puppetry kept repeating the ventriloquist’s deceptive words: ‘positive change will happen in the future.’ Everyone kept chasing the golden carrot; it could never be reached because it neither existed in the now or in the future. It was simply a 22 catch-the-carrot illusion! Of course the mass conformed in response to the feeding of repetitious fear. There was no faith in society, progression or hope. Change was needed and change originated from crisis. Was it any surprise the research was rejected?

Narration - Helen Lloyd - Kick A$$!
Really Great Narration - Brits and Aussies and Germans and more. Lovely voice to listen to and she even captured the rather robotic nature of the cult-like members of the Money Farm.

This is a really terrific book - and is it bad that for the majority of the book I was thinking "sign me up!" (or at least sign up one of my grand-kids and let me move into one of the retirement neighborhoods).

The Money's are all 'their best selves' due to the nutrition and fitness requirements along with a few other treatments along the way which are tailored to each individual and allow them to reach their full potential. All their needs are met, they have no debts, no worries, they are appreciated and they all live in really nice digs. (like I said...sign me up!)

It's a smartly written and thought provoking book of a Dystopian/Eutopian society where our heroine Jyllian finds her-self jobless with her savings running out. She ends up being selected to join the M.O.N.E.Y.'s as a "breaker" because of her intelligent & rebellious way of thinking. She is to challenge their systems and find ways to break them, all in the name of making them better.

The story follows her and a few other select characters through their introduction to Money, their training, their indoctrination and ultimately through their discovery of what Money's goals really are.

I can't really say much more without giving away too much, but I thought it was a really terrific book. It was hard for me to 'get into it' in the beginning, but I plan to listen to the start again.

It's smartly written and filled with intricate details about these two "worlds". Really an interesting book about the state of the worlds finances! Loved it! I'm actually stunned that I'm only the second review of this book on Goodreads. READ or LISTEN to it! It's a keeper!

I received a copy of this audiobook free of charge from Audiobookblast in exchange for an unbiased review.

How to Promote your Book

How to promote your book

Image result for books
Something that I have noticed is how reluctant people are to market their work.  Why is it so difficult  to let your audience know you have created something for them? After spening years crafting and creating a work of art shouldn’t you let people know? Maybe even celebrate the fact you have created something worthy of their attention. What you do have to remember is that people have a choice whether they choose to part with money to purchase one of your creations or not. No one is forced to buy your work remember that!
Image result for books

So what is it that stops people sharing their books with the world? It seems there is a lack of confidence, self-worth or value for what has been created. Once you understand that then you will understand that your competitors feel the same. Or maybe they don’t maybe they have complete confidence in their creation and are willing to put themselves on the line to achieve their dreams. Why should the person next to you achieve their dream and you wait in the shadows for something to happen. The expression everything comes to those who wait is one of the most ridiculous attitudes to adopt. The truth is more waiting comes to those who wait – and waiting is NOT everything. So suck it up Princess and stand by your creation rather than hope someone will do it for you! I know this is brutal, but this is what I say to my students because your work and your sales are your responsibility – fact!

So ask yourself what is your resistance… You might fail? So what? What if you do? At least you gave it a go. What might you feel? Humiliated? Stupid? Like you are not worthy? Well my friend you will feel the same if you don’t give it some welly too and go for it! So now we have discovered what is holding you back then maybe it is time to shift perception and consider how enjoyable it is to contribute to other people’s lives with your creations. What if your creation actually enabled the world to see an entirely new way? What if you held the answer to world change and you were lurking in the shadows fearing the potential of your own light! Yes stop being a dick!

So what do you need to do? You need to find a way that you enjoy promoting: a way that is fun and one that you will repeat whether or not you have an instant return. At this point I now realise why working in a bookshop while I studied my Masters Degree served me so well. I worked for a well known book retailer when Dan Brown released his books and I watched how word of mouth generated so many sales. What I realised is that it is better to have a few books released or available simultaneously. Make sure you have them in a variety of formats too. When one book sells it is quite often the case that people go back and buy the series by the same author. Try not to be a one book pony and never take a pony into a bookstore!

So how do you promote?  Simple - you tell people in as many different ways as possible. How do you tell people? There is social media. The era of social media is amazing. People can find out about you in an instant. I am sure you have heard of: Pintrest, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, SoundCloud and Facebook to name but a few. There is an ‘in person approach’ with books signings. There are author websites. There are blogs. There are magazines. There are radio stations and there are reviewers. If you have your work on audio – you post samples on audio forums such as Soundcloud. You take every opportunity to share on Youtube. If you have the opportunity to do interviews take it. You put yourself out there in as many ways as possible. You go beyond your comfort zone and approach reviewers.  What you do is you allow yourself one year of consistent promotional repetition. Each week you dedicate an evening or a two evenings to blogging, tweeting and sharing.  You allocate a specific amount of time and go for it!

 Image result for success

Personally I create a visual image to motivate me. For some it might be pictures of your children or you ideal home. I put that image in where I can see it from my computer. Also there will be days when you don’t want to promote. Well ‘give it a try.’ When I say give it a try it means sit at the computer and say I will give it a try for ten minutes… You are likely to find a couple of hours pass and promotion is out there.

Sometimes you will hit a wall with promoting and that is when you spend time brain-storming ways to find contacts and then contact them. Ask yourself how you found out about your favourite books. Was it word of mouth? If it was from whom? Find that person and give them your book to read. If they like it then they will share it. The thing is the world is full of information so you have to contribute worthwhile information. What is your book about? How can you be an expert on related subjects and then write articles on that? What you do have to remember is that there are people searching out what you have created. If you wanted to find what you had created where would you look? That is precisely where you place it. Look at Ad words, look at tags and look at the best blogs on your subject. What are they doing? How do you equal that or do better. The act of promoting yourself is easy. The only resistance is you. Imagine how your life will be different once you succeed. Allow yourself that year of consistent promotion and re-evaluate what works and what does not work along the way. If anything you will emotionally expand and grow because you are stepping beyond your comfort zone. Go for it and win! Oh and in the meantime write your next book.

In the meantime here are a couple of mine  that are selling rather well:)

"An Unexpected Gem"
***I was provided a copy of this audio book for the purpose of a review ***

With the required disclaimer out of the way, let me be brutally honest, I had not expected this little gem. In fact, I had expected my listening would be a bit rough and was fortified by it being less than 2 hours.

The synopsis says the author wrote the book as a takeaway from her evening classes on creative writing. My mental context was ... Community Ed evening classes ...and expected a well intended but kind of amateur product. However, I am interested in adult education, and batter my own nerd head against a giant personal creativity brick wall.

So you have an idea of my mind set... low expectations along with high interest.

Amateur hour it was NOT.

I don't know where the author teaches her class, but Sign Me Up! And bring the narrator. Wow. Two hours of unadulterated, straight up, right on, good learning material delivered by a close friend just sharing the material. The narrator's voice was warm, sincere without any artifact or pompous patronising, and well modulated throughout. The material was mind opening for me, with the right mix of the mechanics of writing exercises, sufficient context that using prompts now makes sense to me, and a sprinkling of the inner heart work of creativity through written material.

This was just what I didn't dare hope for in a how to creative writing listen.

Truly an unexpected gem and a learning and growing experience for me.

A keeper and one I will return to many times as I deconstruct my own wall, one block at a time.

Thank You, Ruby and Thank You, Erin.

"M.O.N.E.Y. is bad? This book is not!"
So Money Farm by Ruby Allure was a surprise! When I REALLY did not read things about this book I review for Audiobook Blast, I sometimes get books I don't know something about. BTW: I read 99% about the books I want to review, but this book I can't remember I did that for. Anyways: This was a nice surprise, and I think it is one of those books that is better the second time you read it. No joke! I listen to this twice before I made this! Money Farm makes you thin, and who does not like to hear a book that makes you think? It is an awesome book, that I will recommend to all that likes audiobooks, and really to people that does not!

Helen Lloyd English accent its the topic like a glow and a hand! Her "lady like" voice is so cold, and clear I feel that the author made this book thinking that Helen Lloyd would read it out loud! That is how I feel those two fits together! The 2 times 14 hrs and 6 mins I spend with her never feels boring or uninteresting! I would love to spend it again, and I will because this book I will hear again, and again, even when it is 14 hrs and 6 mins long! That is saying something!

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast dot com
MONEY FARM
What did you like most about Money Farm?
It was an eye opener.

What did you like best about this story?
I like the way it made you think about the way normal everyday life is here and now, and the future...

Have you listened to any of Helen Lloyd’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Helen Lloyd narrated this fairly long audiobook brilliantly. Although the story content was very intense and thought provoking, her lovely smooth voice was very easy to listen to and I thought it was just perfect, a fascinating book wonderfully narrated.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes it was, although it is too long to do so.

Money, Sex & Financial Conflicts

Money, sex and financial conflicts.

Money is more important than sex in a relationship? I have to be honest, that was a horrifying revelation that I discovered whilst researching this blog. It seems that sexual technique can be adjusted and discussed more easily than finances. So why is there such an issue with partners discussing money? There is a level of shame and vulnerability associated with how much money we have and how we value ourselves. In our society our value is often placed on how much money we have in the bank. If you are in debt does that mean you are worthless? If your partner earns more money than you then does that mean they are worth more?

Another interesting finding was that quite often how we handle our finances directly relates to how we handle our emotions too. The stingy miser is likely to hold onto emotions in the same way as they spend money. The financially generous and expressive often replicate the same emotional behaviour. So what happens when we partner these two together? Well it seems that it won’t last. The miser will develop resentment to the financially gregarious.

How we handle money and what we believe about money comes from our upbringing and background. If your parents struggled with money while you were a child then it is likely that you will do what you can to save to feel safe. If money was never an issue then financial flippancy might be the call of the day and you may well see money simply as a flow. We have all established habits and financial techniques over our life time and it is only when we enter relationships that we become aware of how some people work in a very different wealth management ways.

Another interesting finding is how money affects the power dynamic of a relationship. One partner may want to control how much money is spent whilst the other wants to be free to enjoy money. This is when secret accounts and monetary stashing begins. Financial affairs result in monetary mis-truths and secrecy. This is where an underlying trust issue can raise its ugly head. Financial conversations and understanding early in relationships contribute to the longevity of relationships. How much do you really know about what is financially important to your partner? How do you both prioritise your money? Is it more important to have things now or save? Is that flashy car more important than a reserve in the bank for a rainy day? If so do you feel financially robbed or financially vulnerable? Remember that not everyone appears to be what they say they are? An ex-partner of mine appeared to be financially abundant yet after a few conversations and a gut feeling, I discovered that he was over 600k in debt. For me that was horrifying; however, he was a risk taker and made back the money within a couple of years. His attitude to money was that it was something to play with. Mine was that money provides stability and security. Neither were right, they were just attitudes.

The money and relationship facts have intrigued me and you may well find these interesting too.  The higher the salary of a man in a relationship the more likely the relationship will last. Although if the individual falls on financial hardship it is likely that the relationship will dissolve in a year. Men with higher wages have a lower divorce rate than lower earners. On the counterbalance – the higher a woman’s wage is in comparison to her partner’s then the more likely they will divorce. For some reason the disparity of a woman who earns more creates relationship issues.

Do you have any advice on money in relationships? If so please comment below…

Money and Your Value as a Human Being...

What inanimate object can determine your life decisions, your attitude to yourself and how you relate to others? What object can evoke, fear, worry and a sense of feeling controlled?

Answer: Money.

If you think about it most of our life's decisions are based on the Money concept. Can we do this or that because we have the money? Do we have a enough money to buy the house, the clothes, pay the bills or the buy the car? The unfortunate truth is the money concept carries a value and that value merges with your 'self.' Money correlates to freedom and experience. Consider this - what if money were shells. Would you care how many shells were sitting in a pile? Would you work yourself to the extreme to accumulate a shell? Would you desperately need to show off your shells to others? When you shift the object of value then you realise how ridiculous the illusion is that we have been persuaded with. Yes money makes the world go round but that is because we believe that is so.

With the above in mind: If money is how you value yourself then how can you value yourself more without money as the gauge? How can you demonstrate your true value to yourself? What makes you feel rich inside? Well these are some questions that have crossed my mind since writing Money Farm and having it turned into an audio book by the brilliant Helen Lloyd. The thing that I have realised is that so many people often feel that their  intrinsic value is directly proportionate to how much money is sitting in their bank account. Those that are in debt often experience a sense of financial shame. They feel worthless because they are stuck in financial ruts that they can see no way out of. When I was researching the debt figures related to Money Farm I heard the expression 'Nillionaire' - someone who has little or no money. That expression, albeit amusing, made me think of how many Nillionaires there are in the world. Can you imagine someone saying that person over there is a Nillionaire? How many would be proud of that title instead the tar of shame would be coated upon them.

Whilst writing Money Farm I looked at other systems of exchange and it dawned on me, in times gone past, when we had to eat we went out to hunt. We caught food and ate it - we cut out the 'money' as a middle man. When we needed other forms of food we traded. Values were applied to grain, cloth and other goods. I wondered how the world would exist without actual money and looked at alternative spheres of exchange and how values were applied. It was all so fascinating yet the truth is culture and civilisation need an exchange mechanism. We can't all take to the forests and hunt or forage. The truth is we need that exchange concept, although that exchange mechanism does not need to be intrinsic to the person. Money is not the extension of self, instead, it is simply a tool that can be invested, accumulated or spent. Once emotion and attachment is removed from the financial equation then there is a sense of liberation. Once you stop being your money and your money stops being you then that is where the fun begins. I am not saying stop earning money, what I am saying is that you are more than your money. You are a phenomenal person existing in time and space. I am sure that if you asked your soul what you were worth then it would not determine it in terms of money.

With that in mind, I will ask the question: how you can you value yourself without having money as a device for your self value? How can you demonstrate your own vast value to yourself without applying the concept of money? Finally how can you feel rich inside so that is shines into the world?
Enjoy:)
